Robotic Surgery: Two Operations at Once (Iz Gazete)
BOTH COLON AND KIDNEY CANCER SURGERY
Two operations at once with robotic surgery;
At IEU Medical Point Hospital, simultaneous colon cancer surgery by the general surgery team and kidney cancer surgery by the urology team were performed using robotic surgery technology. Tuncay Andiç (73) said, "I will adapt to a new lifestyle. I am sure everything will be better."
Continuing to heal patients with robotic surgery technology, another first was achieved at IEU Medical Point Hospital. Tuncay Andiç, who applied to the hospital, was diagnosed with colon cancer, and further tests revealed a tumor in his left kidney. Surgery was decided for Andiç, who regained his health through the joint efforts of the general surgery and urology departments using robotic surgery technology. He became the first patient to be recorded as having simultaneous robotic surgeries at IEU Medical Point Hospital. Prof. Dr. Gökhan Koç from the urology department, who operated on Andiçs kidney tumor, said, "Our patient was diagnosed with a large bowel tumor. There was a chemotherapy process. Later, during a rectal surgery planned by the general surgery department, we decided to treat the tumor detected in the left kidney in the same session with robotic surgery. We performed the operation through small incisions. If we had used the old method, we would have had to perform the surgery with a large incision. We completely removed the tumor in the patients left kidney. Both the operation and the hospital stay were shortened. We completely removed the left kidney. We performed two surgeries at the same time with robotic surgery in our hospital." Andiç said, "Thanks to the robot, it is very skillful. Having two surgeries at the same time is not easy. Thanks to the patience of our professors and my own resilience, I had successful surgeries. My health is very good. I am sure everything will be better."
